Plant a tree – “Blooming Buds” Bemmulla
6 July 2021
As an organisation thoroughly adapted to the concept of sustainability, Pan Lanka Travels has used its down time to engage in several environment and social projects. In a bid to make a greener environment, we donated over 50 plants to a children’s club “Blooming Buds” located in a semi-urban scheme in Bemmulla. Hasheema took the initiative in this as she has been acting as the sustainability coordinator of Pan Lanka. The fruits plants were distributed among 15 families that live in this enclosed residential area.
Due to deforestation, and rigorous development that took place over the past 5 years, they were keen on spreading greenery that was once lost. An environment committee was formed that consisted of 5 children and they were responsible for the monitoring the growth of plants. Hasheema further delivered a speech on “Environment and conservation” to further educate children on the preservation of nature. The event concluded with one of the plants immediately planted by the children who seemed so excited by the event and the responsibility that it assigned them to.
